A new client told me she has many issues, is depressed all of the time, and continually feels negative. Because of her poor self-image, she hoped used plastic surgery make an improvement. A good idea, except she did not like the outcome.
Uncommonly curious, she wanted to know everything about hypnosis before making an appointment. decided to set an appointment.
At our first session, I discovered that both of her parents were narcissistic. They had no time for her. When they were together, moods were negative. They continually put her down.
Why didn’t her plastic surgeries improve her outlook? Her script of negativity, learned in her formative years, dictated that the ill behaviors she observed became her behavior.
Between infancy and 12 years old, we learn to be the people we will be for life. At 12, our behaviors are locked in. We simply accept those behaviors as those of the person we are.
The Road to Improvement
Hypnosis is effective in changing our behaviors from those we accept to those we want. Remember though you want to know the person you want to be before you start to use hypnosis. Before change, they must be learned within, and used by, the subconscious.
Once you embark on the road to change, you should be alert for changes in thinking to old habit patterns. After hypnosis, you will have had suggestions made to your subconscious. When you do a certain activity, you have been trained to react in a certain way. You will be comfortable with that behavior, whether positive or negative. Once suggestions have been made, your subconscious will offer you a new behavior. It is up to you to ensure that you are ready to hear it.
Here is a fun example you can try for yourselves. We place our bag or keys in the same place every time we come home. Find a new location. Place it there the next 21 days. The first seven days are the most difficult. The second seven days become easier. At the end, you will be doing this automatically. You have created a new behavior.
The Key to Change
I gave this task to a client. Ever since he was 11 years old, he had a taken a stand of being contrary against authority. At 46, he was wealthy and still having trouble with authority. He wanted to change.
After a week, I asked him how the key issue was working. He did it on Days 1 and 2, but by Day 3 it had become a pain. He stopped. As soon as he said that, his jaw dropped and he slapped his head as if a new idea just had struck him. He saw clearly that placing the keys had created the same negative reaction he had been experiencing all his life. He made the decision right there to change.
As for my new client, she was tough. She had difficulty in accepting how hypnosis would help her. With patience on my part and her determination, changes came. Soon she had accomplished what she had been looking for.
