How many friends, acquaintances, or “cousins” do you know who remember your birthday and/or anniversary?

How many of these folks email you birthday and/or anniversary wishes? I'm not talking here about close family.

Would you like to receive these event emails from friends, acquaintances, or “cousins”?

How many friends, acquaintances, or “cousins” are on your birthday/anniversary list?

Why do I ask you all these questions?

Because I am an email-event-reminder fanatic of sorts.

There are 136 people on my event reminder list.

How do I do it?

It's easy.

I use a free online reminder service.

Everything Is in Order

My 136 events are arranged by date and, so, I am emailed a reminder 3 days prior to each event. Then I send off my own event email to people.

Okay. What's my point here?

It's just that I wonder sometimes (read that as OFTEN) if I am being “silly” or “going overboard” or “just plain nutty” for keeping up with my 136 people.

Only one or two of them email me when it's my birthday or anniversary. Maybe they think I'm “nutty.”

So why do I do it?

I think I do it because I enjoy the thought of their surprise that someone besides close family remembers their birthday EVERY SINGLE YEAR.

That makes me pretty special.

I like being special. That feels good.

And who knows . . . maybe I make others feel good, too.

If they feel “bothered” by my event emails — well, they can email me back saying that they don't want to be reminded of their advancing age.

Have a great day! Send me your birth date, and I'll add you to my list.
