Re “Now Mr. Whitaker Will Be Known as His Honor”

[Editor’s Note: City Councilman Jeff Cooper congratulates his former campaign manager Michael Whitaker on his appointment by Gov. Brown yesterday as a Superior Court judge.]

Today I am proud, proud that my friend Mike Whitaker has achieved a great honor by being named a judge of the Superior Court by our governor.

I know first-hand what kind of effort and skill of work that Mike puts into every endeavor he undertakes. As an original board member of the Friends of the Culver City Dog Park, Mike’s expertise on how to navigate through the many obstacles that were presented throughout the process of bringing this project to fruition, were invaluable.

Not only from the aspect of how to solve an issue, but to do so in a fair and equitable manner.

Those are the skills and dedication that Mike exhibited as he co-managed my successful  campaign for City Council in 2010. He also served our city as a Civil Service commissioner.

The thing is, I am not surprised at his appointment.

I expected it, knowing what kind of person he is in his professional and personal life.

Thanks, Mike, for all you have done and for what great things you will do in the future.
