Vice Mayor Alan Corlin and Councilman Scott Malsin compressed 10 meetings with Californias federal politicians into Wednesday, the single day allotted for business.
Flying out on Tuesday and returning on Thursday, they had to work with alacrity.
Sitting with Senators
Separately, Mr. Malsin and Mr. Corlin met with U.S. Sens. Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein. They also huddled, with the Deputy Transportation Secretary.
We were well received everywhere, Mr. Corlin said, by offices that usually are receptive and those that usually are not.
And in Conclusion
Both Councilmen said afterward they felt rewarded but not finished with their task.
Their trip had more of a regional than hometown tint, Mr. Malsin pointed out. While no immediate benefits will directly accrue to Culver City, he said, the MTA has been very helpful in looking for ways to help finance our elevated station.
A Warning: Bring Money
If or when they return to the East Coast, Mr. Corlin said he will consider himself forewarned, economically.
It is incredibly expense, raved the Vice Mayor, a New Jersey native who moved here following his undergraduate days at Rutgers University.
