Confessions of a Political Agnostic

There seem to be no real Americans left in Congress, these days. Just Democrats and Republicans, party-line followers. All I see are politicians willing to put their party’s agenda before the good of the country.

Why should I affiliate myself with any political party, especially with either of the two major ones, when none has ever spoken to me or for me?

Why should I affiliate myself with either major party when each is more interested in aligning itself for the next two-year election-cycle rather than actually doing something to help our country recover?

Lincoln Rehashed

In his Gettysburg Address, President Lincoln finished his short speech by saying, “…that this government of the People, by the People and for the People shall not perish from the earth.”

His remarks seem to have been taken by politicians, reinterpreted, and twisted over the past 150 years to say “…that this government of the people, who buy the people, for their people shall not perish from the earth.”

It’s all about money. Who has it, who controls it and who gets it.

No room for political neutrality these days.

“You are either with me, or you are against me.”

On Being a Non-voter

As soon as you register to vote, even if as an Independent, you are automatically labeled and pigeon-holed. You become just one more statistic to a pollster. I am proud to say that I am not Republican or Democrat. I am not a Greenie or blue-dog, nor am I a Tea Party fancier. I do not want to be categorized politically.

I am an American! Plain and simple.
