Mr. Wesson

The warm summer days when Smiling Herb Wesson, a Council aide, a state legislator and now the misfit President of the Los Angeles City Council, was Culver City’s innocent hometown hero, have blown, raggedly, into a nuclear waste dump.

What is it about the attitudes of Los Angeles politicians whose height mistakenly was purchased at a discount store?

Gentlemen, everybody cannot be Napoleon.

Or a liberal.

At 3:30, I had just sat down to examine Mr. Wesson’s latest silly misbehavior, seemingly cooked-up to stir interest in the 9th Council District race (state Sen. Curren Price vs. former Council aide Ana Cubas) that he has blessed – when the City of Compton made muddy headlines again.

From Basil Kimbrew, of the California Friends of the African American Caucus, we have the latest You Won’t Believe posting from Compton:

Mr. Galvan

Compton City Council candidate Isaac Galvan, then 38 years old,  allegedly struck the Mayor of the City of Commerce, 63-year-old Lilia Leon, on Election Day last November, and she filed a battery report.

According to the Sheriff’s Dept., Ms. Leon said she was in the City Hall courtyard in the City of Commerce, near the Senior Center that was being used as a voting precinct.

Mayor Leon

Ms. Leon “stated that she raised her cell phone to her eye level with her right hand to view a message when Suspect No. 1 (Mr. Galvan) hit her right hand and stated ‘Don’t take my picture.’ (Ms.) Leon said that she did not see what hand Suspect No. 1 used to hit her.

“But it was hard enough to knock her cell phone out of her hand. The victim said that two males who came out of the Senior Center saw what happened and confronted Suspect No. 1. The victim stated that she and the suspect continued to be in front of the voting location without further incident.

“(Ms.) Leon said that she knows Suspect No. 1 by the name of Isaac. She stated that Isaac had previously attempted to sue her in Small Claims court for $1,000. The victim is not certain why the suspect struck her but believes it might be because of the Small Claims court issue or because they were on opposite sides of a ballot measure. (Ms.) Leon did not seek medical attention. (Ms.) Leon provided us the suspect’s full name, approximate age and address. (Ms.) Leon also informed us Witness Altamirano (City of Commerce Council member) was standing next to her and saw the incident.

“We contacted Witness Alatamirano who gave us the same account of the incident involving (Ms.) Leon and Suspect No. 1. The witness added that  he saw Suspect No. 1 with his right hand backhand the back of (Ms.) Leon’s right hand.  The force caused (Ms.) Leon’s cell phone to fall from her right hand.

“At this time, the victim is non-desirous of prosecution, and is reporting this incident for documentation purposes only.”
