Dateline Dayton — Probably you have heard about the seven-year-old girl from Detroit shot in a police raid. The details I have read are sketchy. However, I believe the police must receive support. Their job is very dangerous. They never know when someone, even grandma, will pull a gun.
I feel sorry for the little girl, and for the fact that she possibly had to live in a criminal environment.
I realize that we must love our children, no matter what. But when they are wanted by the police, we should not be shielding them. If we truly loved them, and wanted to protect our family and the community, we should be leading them to the police.
Here in Dayton, we had a situation where a Montgomery County Commissioner allowed her son to live in her home, knowing that he was wanted by the police.
What kind of example does this set for the community?
Speaking of example, another Commissioner was arrested for drunk driving. So all of us are entitled to a mistake. But get this. The Commissioner’s husband, head of the Democrat Party for Montgomery County, called the judge, and it was not a social call.
While I’m rambling about the County Commission, I will tell you the third and final Commissioner is worthless. He ran for office on the issue of jobs and how his opponent, the incumbent, allowed jobs to leave the County. He got elected, and under his watch, not only do we have a higher job loss, we have lost entire companies. When this trio comes up for reelection, their opponents should have a field day.
Out of Control
Have you been following the situation in Greece? Hardly a day goes by that Greece isn’t in the news. It is a serious situation, and I must admit I’m not following the crises daily, as I should. The interesting thing is, however, how closely their situation parallels events in the United State. Consider our out-of-control spending, high debt and giveaway programs. If we, and I‘m talking about us, not the idiots in Washington, don’t do something now to control government’s spending, we will be the next Greece.
Election Day will be here before we know it. We must send a message to Washington that there has to be an end to present day policies and programs. We must insist on fiscal responsibility, a balanced budget, an end to bribery and putting what is best for the future of our country above party loyalty.
Between now and November, we will be bombarded with political junk. It will be our job to sort though the trash and get to the truth, looking for who will best represent us, our beliefs, while doing what we believe to be right for the country. It’s not going to be easy.
Speaking of Aliens
We are hearing a lot about immigration these days, especially in Arizona. Since there are two sides to most situations, I would like to add my two cents. Illegal immigrants should not be entitled to any help from our government, unless there is some extenuating circumstance. We must always allow individuals to legally enter our country, with the understanding they must be able to support themselves and will learn to speak English. All applications, licenses and tests (for example, driving) should be given in English. This should be the only language of our great country. There is no such thing as political correctness when you are illegal. By the way, the United States presently spends $338.3 billion on illegal immigrants,
