City Council Turning into a Boys Club, but Only for a Few Minutes

Yes, the chance of Los Angeles voting in a stag City Council on July 1 is great…

Since most incumbent Councilmen have male chief deputies, the horseshoe and immediate surroundings already look like a crowded men's room!

Never fear…

It won't be long before we are politically-correct once more. Because the May 21 vote merely will  be a primary for the seat Tony Cardenas has vacated for Congress.

The two leading Valley  candidates to replace him are Cindy Montanez and Nury Martinez.

This means the L.A. City Council Boys Club won't  be “Boys Only” for more than a few months –  if Curren Price whips Ana Cubas in South Los Angeles and neither Cindy nor Nury gains a majority of votes the first  time around on the ballot.

Roz Wyman, elected the  first L.A. City Councilwoman more than half a century ago, fortunately still is with us. She made a hale and hearty appearance in Council Chambers  just a few weeks ago.
