[img]541|left|||no_popup[/img] As with all projects worth doing (at least for me), I grossly underestimated the amount of time and energy it would take for me to put together the O.C. Cello Choir’s first public concert.
I spent months arranging music, practicing with students in their lessons, having group rehearsals, and marketing for last Saturday morning’s concert at the Yost Theater.
By the time it arrived, I had memorized all parts of all the pieces, prepared numerous students who never thought they would end up onstage with their cello for the spotlight, and made new friends who came through in the final hours to help me finalize the program.
Days later, I still am recovering. However, seeing the shining eyes and smiles from the choir members onstage before we began our final piece made it all worth it.
Ms. Dewberry, an accomplished cellist, completed her DMA in Chamber Music Performance from UCLA in December 2005. She received her MM in Cello Performance from UCLA in June 2002 and her B.M. in Cello Performance from Western Michigan University in April 1998. She also holds a B.A. in French with a minor in Women's Studies and Philosophy.
