I have just completed the first video (see video above) for my campaign for the West Basin Water District Division 4 seat on Nov. 4.

I lay down some of the elements of my campaign.

The drought of these last three years is part of an ongoing trend of increasing water scarcity.

You will find this race at the very bottom of your ballot.

To secure our water future, we need to create solutions for now and the coming 10- and 35-year droughts.

More dams won't solve this. Importing more water from farther places at even higher energy, and environmental costs won't solve this. Conservation alone won't solve this. We have to change our values and perspective. We need to work with our environment to make our solutions.

There's a saying in the water industry: “There is no new water.” Everything is recycled. West Basin MWD has a world-class recycling facility.  It collects cleaned waste water and recycles it by further cleaning and purification.

I am proposing to take this high quality water and use it to recharge our aquifers. Let it filter down by natural processes and use our massive underground lakes and rivers as a local supply and storage.

This is called Indirect Potable Reuse and it is done by Orange County, San Diego, San Francisco.

It is safe, secure and environmentally responsible.

We can become sustainable.

I have over 34 years experience in environmental, sustainability and conservation issues.

I'm a founding member of Frack-Free Culver City and Baldwin Hills Oil Watch. Over the past two years, I have worked to protect our communities, our health and safety, and our air and water.

With your help, I want to create for us a safe, secure and sustainable water supply.

On Nov. 4, I want you to put water first and start at the bottom of the ballot.
