BrainPOP Recorded!

I just figured out (with the help of Google) how to record the audio and video of my beloved BrainPOP cartoons.  Now I can watch them again whenever I want.

BrainPOP is a free app that, when downloaded, shows a free three-minute educational cartoon each day.  Of course, the app has several other free movies and, with a subscription, hundreds of animations arranged by various topics are available.

Here’s how to record your iPhone’s BrainPOP, or anything else on your iPhone, to your computer, and save it in a file.  The app also works with iPad, and some Android devices.

1.  On your computer (mine is a Mac) download “Reflector.”   It’s a $10 app.  http://www.airsquirrels.com/reflector/get-started/

2.  On your iPhone, swipe up and tap “Air Play.”

3.  Click on the name of your computer, and then click on “mirroring.”

4.  Open your QuickTime Player, and get ready to click on File-New Screen
     Recording

5.  Start your iPhone’s video, or whatever else you want to record from your iPhone.

6.  Click on QuickTime’s File-New Screen Recording, and Start Recoding.  If you
lose the signal from your Reflector app, just swipe up on your iPhone, and turn
     “mirroring” off and on again.

7.  Stop recording by clicking on the “Stop Recording” icon at the top right of your
computer screen.  The video will process, and then you can click the play button.

Note:  To get better sound quality on your recording, download the free Soundflower app and activate Soundflower as your sound output on System Preferences – Sound.  You will not hear any sound while recording.  Then, on System Preferences, activate your internal microphone when playing back the recording.

If you want to save your movie to your iPhone, you need to convert the Movie file.  See http://www.ehow.com/how_8338312_convert-movie-plays-dropbox.html

Now I can have fun thinking of other iPhone events to record.   Enjoy!
