[Editor’s Note: A post-midnight message this morning, and a followup, to David Zahniser, who covers City Hall for the Los Angeles Times, regarding the daughter of Los Angeles City Councilman Richard Alarcon.]

I just returned from dinner with friends to see your 11 p.m. Andrea Alarcon post.
So I made a phone call to get the parts of the story about 11-year-old Cheyenne’s maternal mistreatment. you left out of the L.A. Times account to spare the mayor some embarrassment.
A host of unanswered questions persist.
For example: While in LAPD custody, was Andrea’s daughter checked for bruises?
Did Big Momma pick up her daughter from LAPD after a phone call between Chief Beck and Mayor Villaraigosa about how to kill the scandal?
Since Cheyenne was in LAPD protective custody until 2 a.m., why wasn’t Momma Alarcon asked to take a breathalyzer test before the police handed over Cheyenne?
Was standard LAPD procedure violated in this special politically explosive case?
How much sick time has Momma Alarcon accumulated?
Has Godfather Villaraigosa talked to his endangered goddaughter, Cheyenne, about this maternal abandonment?
Did Corina (the ex-Mrs. Mayor) drive Cheyenne home from LAPD HQ?
Did the LAPD escort the pair to Corina’s car?
Who else was there?
Whose bed was Andrea Alarcon sharing while her daughter wandered the near-midnight passageways if L.A. City Hall?
Was Cheyenne crying when City Hall security discovered her abandoned?
Whose bed was Andrea Alarcon sharing right after abandoning her daughter?
The mayor is tied to this child abuse story. Antonio is wearing this scandal around his neck! Why else did the L.A. Times follow him to Skid Row to ask Hizzoner questions about his goddaughter while Antonio was handing out pumpkin pie to the homeless?
Cheyenne's baptismal certificate lists her godparents. That is not a government document but is kept in the Archdiocese Records.
Can’t Count on Lacey
Republican Cooley has a month left in office to file charges against Democrat Alarcon. Fellow Democrat Lacey will launch a cover-up once she gets in office.
The rest of the media is simply covering the L.A Times’s highly selective coverage. This is not a missing child story. LAPD was obligated under California law to conduct a thorough physical examination of the child in question looking for signs of physical abuse before she was handed over to her mother.LAPD must be asked if that medical exam took place. If not, why not?
Instead, Cheyenne was promptly returned to the wayward mom by orders of Chief Beck!
Who is paying Andrea Alarcon's huge legal bill to defend her against the previous child endangerment charges?
Where is Cheyenne's father? The press should obtain his reaction. Instead the media is treating this unfolding scandal as if the mayor's $130,000 a year appointee's abused child was a modern-day equivalent of a virgin birth!
Lots more to come if the City Hall blogs apply strong pressure to the mainstream media!
