This tiny gathering of characters on the page encapsulates my annoyingly recurrent battle with my own certainty.

How is it that I can really UNDERSTAND that my ability to reach the summit of my goals lies in my attitude, in the hike itself? I find myself constantly trying to learn all that there is to know about the weather and trail conditions. I buy the latest gear and take practice climbs in a gym.

Yet once again I see that more preparation is not better. At some point, I have to get myself to the trailhead, rain or shine, and just START. And then KEEP WALKING. Okay. To be fair, I’ve gotten much better at starting my adventures. However, I am not so tolerant when I slip down the hill in the mud and lose ground or get momentarily lost. I start doubting myself and asking for direction from those who have no knowledge of how to climb my particular mountain.

Because nobody can know how to walk my path. Except me, of course. Do it.
