Dateline Dayton – Last Thursday morning at 11, I met the nephew of the owner of the condo we are buying to discuss the electrical connection. He brought along a bodyguard.

I was fortunate that my locksmith showed up at the same time. He could be my protection. None was needed, fortunately. Everyone was cordial.

The electrical inspector found one small problem, easily corrected. This proved my point that there must be a permit and inspection. I really don’t know if the problem was serious, but I am glad the whole process is over.

I am starting to move small items over to our new condo, which we don’t need at our present location, such as a patio set. Our son Chris went with me to the second-hand store (Home 2 Home) to purchase a file cabinet for the garage. It fit perfectly, just where I had intended to place the unit.

Last Saturday, after breakfast at Starlight, we did a few errands before our family arrived to celebrate Christmas. To accommodate everyone’s schedule, we (I really believe it was our children) decided to celebrate Christmas the Saturday before.

It worked well. No one had to leave early. Chris came up with the idea of having our dessert at the condo, and he did most of the preparation. I had to buy another carton of lime sherbet because Chris put his in the refrigerator instead of the freezer. The celebration and visit to the condo was really nice. and everyone appeared to enjoy the evening.

Sunday, Lisa, Darlene, their daughters and Pauline all went shopping for a dress for Emily. She has a date for a dance and needed a new dress. While they were shopping, Chris and I went Ikea to find shelving units for the second bedroom of the condo.

On Tuesday, Darlene’s family, and Pauline and I met Chris for lunch at Hospice of Dayton, where he works. Darlene is heading back to Michigan early in the morning because Heather has to work Christmas night. She is a nurse on the night shift at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in the Michigan community of St Joseph.

Christmas was low key for us. We picked up Pauline’s brother and took him with us to church. Afterward, Pauline prepared a great brunch. As we were getting ready to eat, Jon, whose birthday is today, along with his two daughters, came over to visit. Although they claimed they had just eaten, they joined us for the meal, and there was plenty to go around.

After taking my brother-in-law Joe back to Walnut Creek and stopping by the condo so Pauline could see her Christmas present, we got something to eat and then met Chris at the movies. We saw “Saving Mr. Banks,” and it was very good. Pauline saw it for the second time.

Today, it’s back to work.
