Parents: Please note the following new info on a rash of burglaries in and around our community. I would suggest when you go out, leave lights on and a radio or TV going. And let's all watch out for our neighbors. report anything suspicious immediately to the police.

Thanks, neighbors.

This is relating to Vets Park.

Hi, Everyone:

Normally I wouldn't send this through the Yahoo group, but since many of our Farragut families live on these blocks, please read the emails below.

If you haven't heard, our house was one of seven that has been broken into in the last two months. It happened last Friday night. They made off with three computers, my I-pad, two phones, my digital camera, a wallet/credit cards, cash, and – most importantly – our family heirloom jewelry. The worst part, of course, is that the kids are so freaked out.

This past weekend, we made up a flyer and were passing it out around the neighborhood when I happened upon Mayor Weissman's house. I spoke with his wife Doneil, who didn't know anything about it. Apparently Mayor Weissman decided to contact CCPD. Doneil stopped by today to give me this response that the Mayor got from the CCPD Operations Bureau Commander. We had heard of one or two other break-ins. But you will read below, there have actually been seven total in Vets Park, just since May 7.

I tried to post this to the Farragut Fan Club mailing list, but I wasn't able to. Please post this ASAP so that families can be sure to protect their homes. Hopefully this won't happen to anyone else!

Mayor Weissman,

I wanted to communicate to you information regarding the residential burglaries in and around the Vets Park neighborhood and what we have done, and are doing to address this issue.

From May 1 to July 1, there have been seven burglary investigations within this area. The burglaries are all similar in nature, with mainly jewelry, cash and smaller electronics being taken that are easily carried by the suspects.

1) June 22, Wagner Street.

2) June 17, Elenda Street.

3) June 4, Sepulveda Boulevard.

4) June 1, Elenda Street.

5) May 22, Keystone Avenue.

6) May 14, Keystone Avenue.

7) May 7, Rhoda Way.

To combat this problem, we have stepped up our patrols of the area, providing greater visibility.

Our Burglary investigator, Det. Shimabukuro, and our Crime Impact team are coordinating their efforts to identify potential suspects and conduct any follow up investigation related to these burglaries.

A resident's video surveillance camera captured a vehicle and possible suspect from one of the burglaries. This has been provided to the officers on patrol. Also, Lt. Iizuka had a meeting with several residents of the neighborhood and provided them with tips on how to make their homes safer. According to Lt. Iizuka, many residents have purchased surveillance cameras for their homes. He is working towards starting a regular Neighborhood Watch program for that neighborhood.

Please let me know if you need any further information or if you have any questions.
