“There should be a public hearing. But Fulwood is circumventing the process.”

Reportedly, the wireless company proposition was blocked from settling in two other Culver City neighborhoods — including adjacent to Temple Akiba — when residents protested.

Bill LaPointe, Parks and Recreation Director, was not taking calls this morning. He said he was working on a deadline.

A month ago last Friday, however, Mr. LaPointe submitted a list of 11 “preliminary project requirements.”

The newspaper has obtained a copy of Mr. LaPointe’s document.

Among his questions were:

“Are there any potential health hazards associated with the tower.”

“What other sites might be workable for this project?”

“Where are the other sites T-Mobile is/has considered for this project?”

“How much would T-Mobile pay the city, and what would the length of time of the lease be?”

“How long would the construction process be?”

“Any and all trenching and/or construction of the turf, concrete, etc., must be fully remediated within an agreed upon period of time after construction.”

“Staff is researching whether the city would be in jeopardy of not being able to obtain any future grant funding due to the lease with T-Mobile.”

“Could T-Mobile be required to use the existing equipment room in the pool facility rather than take up any green space of the park?”
