Volunteers will work, from 8 until 12 noon.

They will install temporary shade structures and create a new “time out” area for dogs who need a break from playing with other dogs.

Keeping Busy

Volunteers also will be installing plaques honoring donors who have sponsored park amenities such as benches, trees, bulletin boards and water fountains.

Other volunteers, meanwhile, will be busy sterilizing benches, throwing away old tennis balls, selling tee-shirts, greeting volunteers, spreading decomposed granite, cleaning water fountains, replenishing plastic bags and many other tasks needed to keep the Dog Park clean and shiny.

Dark for Duration

During the four hours of cleanup, the Dog Park will be closed to the public.

While the city owns the park, it is used by the community.

The Dog Park welcomes all well behaved, vaccinated and licensed dogs from Culver City and the surrounding communities to enjoy the Park with their owners.

In the Meanwhile

While the Dog Park is closed, the Friends urge all Dog Park users who are unable to attend the P.U.P. Day event to take the opportunity to attend Culver City’s low cost vaccination, micro-chipping and licensing clinic.

This will be held at the Armory, 10808 Culver Blvd., beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Even if dogs have their vaccinations, this can be a good way to renew their licenses.

For more information on this event, contact the city of Culver City at 310.253.6015.

Playtime

When the work is completed the Friends of the Culver City Dog Park and the volunteers will welcome the dogs into the newly polished up Boneyard to romp and play to their hearts’ content.

For further information or to volunteer on Saturday, contact the Friends at 310.390.9114 or by email at info@culvercitydogpark.org.

Vicki Daly Redholtz is Chair of the Friends of the Culver City Dog Park.
