Seriously.

Why not?

According to Canon Law, any Catholic in good standing is eligible to hold the office of Pope. Antonio, widely known for his piety, would make a good fit.

Hollywoodhighlands.org is asking the disgraced Los Angeles Cardinal Roger Mahony to enter the Mayor's name into competition during the upcoming sacred closed-doors Vatican City Conclave soon to meet to pick a new Pontiff.

At 60 years old, Antonio is just the right age to run for the office of Vicar of Christ.

Not too young. Not too old.

Our website asks the soon-to-be ex-Mayor (as of 1 July) that as soon as he is  elevated to his brand new position as Holy Father to name himself after his No. 1 mentor, his longtime close spiritual advisor. Henceforth, Mayor Villaraigosa would  be known as Pope Roger I.

When the hollywoodhighlands.org representative was delivering this important message at the microphone in front of Los Angeles City Hall cameras during the Public Comment portion of today's City Council meeting, Council President Herb Wesson tried unsuccessfully to rule speaker John Walsh out of order as irrelevant.

However, the City Council Deputy came to the rescue by ruling against President Wesson, thus allowing Mr. Walsh to finish his comments.

Mr. Walsh may be contacted at hollywoodhighlands.org
