Dateline Jerusalem
— What would you do?

I ask that question of all of you, as well as of myself.

As a former peace officer and then defense attorney, I have seen and heard horrible things, murder, mayhem, child abuse. Sometimes they were beyond imagination.

I believe I know what I would do, for I know how outraged I feel right now.

Why isn't the civilized world condemning this despicable situation?

What happened to morality and decency?

This week I join my fellow Israelis and civilized people in this world in mourning the deaths of two Israelis who were captured and kidnapped by Hizbullah terrorists who crossed the Lebanese border into Israel two years ago.

For the last two years their families and friends and the Red Cross were denied information and access to them.

Tragic Tease

These families were teased by reports that their loved ones were alive, that they were dead, or one was alive and one was dead.

Psychological games played to further torture the families.

No one knew whether they were dead or alive until now, two years later when they crossed the border, but this time in coffins.

Why were they kidnapped?

Because Hizbullah terrorists needed bodies to trade so that they could get their fellow terrorists released from Israeli prisons.

It has become a sick joke — that of being sentenced to prison for life for committing terrorist acts.

There is no such thing. Israel releases them whenever an Israeli hostage is kidnapped or the international community puts pressure on Israel to do so to show good faith in “peace talks.”

A Man and His Crime

And who was the main terrorist who was to be released in exchange for the bodies of two dead Israelis?

A man (it is very difficult for me to call him a man, as I consider him an animal) who murdered two policemen, and four civilians, one who was a 4-year-old little girl. A little girl who was forced to witness her father being shot and murdered, and then, this vile terrorist crushed this little girl’s skull with the butt of his rifle!

The most disgusting part of all is that this terrorist is being congratulated and honored for doing so. He is a hero.

Who in their right mind could condone the outright sadistic slaughter of a little child? One such person is Abbas, from Fatah. Abbas, Israel’s so-called partner in peace.

I know that I would not exchange dead bodies for live prisoners who vow to return to Israel to kill more innocent civilian men, women, and children.

All it does is encourage these terrorists to again cross the border into Israel and continue to kidnap people or kill them and hold them or their bodies for ransom.

At least in the past, the prisoner exchange was for live prisoners.

Of ‘Cease Fires’

Now the enemy can murder anyone they want and know that Israel will release prisoners for dead bodies.

No wonder they act as they do. They have nothing to lose.

I know that I would not unilaterally abide by a “cease fire” with Hamas while it boasts about using this so-called truce to re-arm itself.

Why is it that Israel must use restraint when Hamas has broken the cease fire by attacking Israel with rockets and mortars over 20 times since the cease fire came into effect?

Why is it that Israel is told by the international community that it cannot protect itself?

What kind of insanity has taken over this world?

What would you do?

Would you continue to appease terrorists? Life here in Israel is hard, but more so when Israel’s very existence hangs by a thread.
