Would You Care to Dance? Mitchell Preps for Price Seat, Sept. 17

Gov. Brown yesterday announced the autumn dates for special elections to replace departing legislators – but don’t look for the new or old faces to cause even a hiccup.

Everybody knows everyone else who is involved.

Do you want to dance the minuet?

Last week, state Sen. Curren Price (D-Culver City) departed the state Legislature for the final time, preparatory to being sworn in a week from Saturday as the new Los Angeles City Councilman, representing the 9th District, South Los Angeles.

State Assemblymember Holly Mitchell (D-Culver City) is favored from here to Mars to clinch Mr. Price’s seat in the Sept. 17 primary, obviating the need for a runoff.

[img]1987|left|Sebastian Ridley-Thomas||no_popup[/img]A week ago last evening, Mr. Price hosted a private dinner for young Sebastian Ridley-Thomas, one of the twin sons of of Mr. Price’s friend, County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas, in his first run for office.

The younger Mr. Ridley-Thomas is strongly favored to succeed Ms. Mitchell – just as soon as her ept. 17 victory becomes official.
