Some one please call me, and tell me why Mayor Jim Dear of Carson, wants to run against the first female African American city clerk of Carson. Better yet call and ask him directly at xxx.xxx.xxxx.
Why would he give up being mayor of a city to be city clerk?
Then call me to let me know his response.

Meanwhile, in midafternoon we caught up with Mr. Dear when he was driving to a meeting.
When the caller explained the context of his questions, and dropped Mr. Kimbrew’s name, Mr. Dear’s response was immediate and succinct.
“Oh, brother,” and he was not smiling.
“The Basil Kimbrew I went to high school with? We graduated from Gardena High in the same class. I have known Basil from junior high, all the way through.”
The balance of Mr. Dear’s description of his schooldays chum can wait.
