With 53 days to go until Election Day, freshman U.S. Rep. Janice Hahn (D-San Pedro), aiming to win a significantly redrawn district, will officially launch her campaign on Saturday morning.

For participants, the idea will be to look or to talk with alacrity. This kickoff will not be confused with a marathon.

Ms. Hahn, the sister of former Los Angeles Mayor James Hahn, now a judge, and a onetime Los Angeles City Council member, will meet only passingly with supporters – from 10 until 11 – at 447 W. 6th St., San Pedro.

Someone said she either has few supporters or her backers are the fastest talkers on the campaign trail.

Ms. Hahn’s competition is U.S. Rep. Laura Trouble Richardson (D-Long Beach), whose middle name really is Trouble. This was yet another negative week for Ms. Richardson who frequently dips into marginally legal, and sometimes illegal, waters.

Several days ago, a left-wing group voted the left-wing Ms. Richardson one of the most corrupt members of Congress.

State Assemblyman Isadore Hall (D-Inglewood) and Los Angeles City Councilman Joe Buscaino will join Ms. Hahn. Her campaign has been promised elected and community leaders from Long Beach, Lynwood, Wilmington, South Gate, Compton, Carson, Watts, and San Pedro will appear.
