The Mehaul O’Leary Limerick & Song

By Charles & Susan Deen*

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,

A tale of this first fateful campaign trip

That started from Culver City port

Aboard the 80-foot catamaran ship.

Mehaul O’Leary was a mighty sailing man.

A skipper brave and sure will endure.

Sixty-five passengers set sail that day

For a three-hour tour, a three-hour tour.

So this is a tale of many clean campaign days ahead,

When all the hard work really gets done.

With much thanks to youth and seniors for being aboard,

That’s how the Mehaul O’Leary campaign will be won.

Running for Culver City office will be tough,

Aboard The Catalina Adventure all was holiday fun.

Thanks to the courage from the fearless supporter crew,

This campaign will be won, this campaign will be won.

First mate Susan O’Leary and Skipper Mehaul too,

Will do their very honest best,

To ask Culver City residents for their votes,

On Election Day, on Election Day.

*With apologies to the Gilligan’s Island theme song.
