Re “Who Will Succeed Little on the Water Board?”

After six weeks of drama – bringing the West Basin Municipal Water District more newspaper space than it has accumulated in the past six years – the denouement this morning arrived with a thud.

Who will replace longtime board member Ed Little, who retired two months ago?

The surviving four Water Board members voted unanimously this morning to…let the voters declare their choice in November.

None of the applicants – including former two Culver City residents, former City Councilman Steve Rose, and former candidate Stephen Murray – managed to catch fire with the Board.

When votes were counted in separate tabulations and three votes were needed, no one managed more than two.

On two occasions, the Board set votes for really, really final counts.

Both times they failed to reach consensus.

They scheduled this morning’s meeting as a closing gasp ahead of Friday’s drop-dead date for making an appointment.
