Mr. Ridley-Thomas received 78.1 percent of the votes cast (27,011 votes) compared to 21.8 percent (7,565 votes) for Mr Ratcliff. Tomorrow will be the six-month anniversary of Mr. Ridley-Thomas’s special election victory last December to fill the seat vacated by state Sen. Holly Mitchell (D-Culver City, Crenshaw).
“I am humbled by the tremendous outpouring of support shown to me by the voters of our 54th Assembly District,” Mr. Ridley-Thomas said. “Voters throughout Los Angeles and Culver City have propelled my campaign forward to the November general election by a landslide margin.
“The people of the 54th Assembly District sent me to Sacramento to address job creation, quality education for their children and access to affordable healthcare. They elected me to deliver results. We have worked hard to make progress on each of these key issues since last December,” he said.
“Keeping the state fiscally sound, approving our state’s budget on time and supporting Gov. Brown’s ‘rainy day’ fund have been top priorities. By June 30, we will have achieved those goals,” Mr. Ridley-Thomas said.
