Feuer Adds a Key Group

By Dave Jacobson

Marking his 26th grassroots Democratic Club endorsement,  Los Angeles city attorney candidate Mike Feuer today collected the official support of the USC College Democrats, a group of young, passionate activists.

The Feuer campaign regards this as a significant step toward victory in the May 21 runoff, given that SC is incumbent Carmen Trutanich’s alma mater.

Mr. Feuer is the officially endorsed candidate of the Los Angeles County Democratic Party, a feat for any candidate running in deep blue Los Angeles. Overall, Democrats made up close to 68 percent of the electorate in the March 5 primary election. According to exit polling from Loyola Marymount University, Mr. Feuer beat Mr. Trutanich nearly 2-1 among Democratic voters, 55.3 percent to 28 percent.

“Los Angeles residents are tired of Mr. Trutanich’s failed agenda of pursuing cases against protesters expressing their 1st amendment rights, or against street artists or ticket scalpers,” said Aaron Taxy, President of USC College Democrats. “We feel Mr. Feuer will focus on what matters most, like keeping neighborhoods safe, solving our city’s most pressing problems, and cracking down on gangs and gun violence.”

Mr. Feuer recently has picked up several key endorsements, including support from his former rival, public safety attorney Greg Smith, the United Firefighters of Los Angeles City Local 112, the Law Enforcement Assn. of Asian Pacifics, the Los Angeles Central City Assn., former U.S. Commerce Secretary Mickey Kantor, and former U.S. Labor Secretary Hilda Solis.

Mr. Feuer has built up one of the widest ranging coalitions of supporters. His endorsements include: the
Los Angeles Times and La Opinión newspapers; the County Democratic Party; current and former Republican elected leaders; business groups like the California Small Business Assn. and Valley Industry and Commerce Assn., PAC; the County Federation of Labor; public safety leaders such as former Police Chief Bill Bratton and police reformer John Mack; every major environmental group in L.A.; women’s groups; LGBT groups; leaders of L.A.’s legal community; both of California's U.S. Sens., Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein,  1,100 grassroots citizens and neighborhood leaders.

Trutanich Starts Early

By John Schwada

On Friday, the Carmen Trutanich campaign will be hosting a pre-Cinco de Mayo community celebration.

From 5:30 to 8 at El 7 Mares, 2729 Cesar Chavez, Boyle Heights.

The community is invited to join Nuch, the incumbent city attorney, and special guests, including County Supervisor Gloria Molina, LAUSD School Board President Monica Garcia and Los Angeles City Councilman Jose Huizar for free food and mariachi sounds.

Please feel free to contribute to Nuch’s campaign by clicking here.

Nuch can’t win this campaign alone. He needs the help of many to ensure that L.A.’s top prosecutor is a trial attorney with the experience we need to protect Los Angeles.

See the campaign website at www.nuch13.com or email the candidate at carmen@nuch13.com or call 818. 925-NUCH.
