Re “Most Unusual Interfaith Gathering Ever in Culver City”

It is originator Mohammed Akbar Khan’s intention that the dual emphasis – not dueling emphases – tomorrow morning at the groundbreaking interfaith program at the King Fahad Mosque “be on giving information and sharing what we have in common.”

No controversies, please. This is about getting to know each other.

The 10:30 event – to which the public is invited — is headlined: To Honor the Life of Jesus and Mother Mary.

Mr. Khan, director of interfaith and public relations at the mosque, says that “as far as the story of Jesus is concerned, Islam and Christianity have a super amount in common.

“There was the miraculous birth of Jesus.

“Both religions are waiting for his return.

“There is the story of Mary.

“These are two religions that have a number of common themes.

“Muslim girls still follow the tradition of Mary by covering their hair, like the nuns, do,” Mr. Khan said.
