Culver City will conduct its annual community-wide disaster drill tomorrow evening in observance of the California Great ShakeOut.
Celebrating 10 years of successful community participation and preparedness.
There will be two opportunities to observe the ShakeOut. The first, by patrolling city streets and seeing neighborhoods post their “OK” signs in windows and doorways most visible from the public right-of-way in an effort to communicate to first responders whether they are “OK” or not.
The second opportunity will be by observing the Community Emergency Response Team volunteers in action as they render first-aid, and conduct search and rescue operations.
At 6:45 pm, CERT members will be notified via the city’s Emergency Notification System, Nixle, that they are to stage in the parking lot of the Boys Scouts of America, 10866 Culver Blvd., to await instructions.
Disaster scenarios have been set-up throughout the designated neighborhood. Our CERT Team will then mobilize (by foot) into a nearby neighborhood to render aid and conduct rescue operations.
