The Next Parks? Harris-Dawson Is Sewing up Council Votes

[img]2807|right|Marqueece Harris-Dawson||no_popup[/img]Marqueece Harris-Dawson is running hard and effectively in his campaign to succeed termed-out Bernard Parks, representing the 8th District on the Los Angeles City Council.

Curren Price has become the ninth City Councilmember to endorse in his campaign.

Mr. Price represents the adjacent 9th Council District, which includes a large swath of South Los Angeles communities, USC and areas of downtown. 

Mr. Price formerly served in the state Assembly and Senate, and he was Chair of the Legislative Black Caucus.

“Harris-Dawson has built a formidable roster of endorsements by elected officials in support of his campaign for the 8th District race. 

[img]1562|left|Curren D. Price Jr.||no_popup[/img]Mr. Harris-Dawson has earned endorsements from City Council President Herb Wesson, City Councilmembers Mike Bonin, Bob Blumenfield, Joe Buscaino, Felipe Fuentes, Paul Koretz, Tom LaBonge and Nury Martinez. 

He also has gained the support of U.S. Rep. Karen Bass and retired U.S. Rep. Diane Watson; state Sen. Isadore Hall and Holly Mitchell; and state Assemblymember Sebastian Ridley-Thomas. He has been endorsed by a broad coalition of labor unions, community and faith leaders.
 
Mr. Harris-Dawson is president and CEO of the Community Coalition, a civil rights group in South L.A. that organizes and advocates for better schools, safer neighborhoods, a fair share of city services, and a local government that is more responsive to the people.
