Round Two of the 9-week Summer Music Festival series in the Courtyard of City Hall comes up tomorrow evening at 7 with a foot-thick Irish brogue.
Can City Councilman Mehaul O’Leary be far away?
Not if anyone at City Hall has even the smallest sense of communal promotion.
The marquee attraction, in a city that loves to boast of its commitment to green power, Is a group known as the Young Dubliners, Celtic Rockers performing Irish folk with a rock twist.
Picnickers and other regulars at the corner of Duquesne and Culver Boulevard on summer Thursday evenings know that fans are welcome as early as you can make it — at 4:30, you can be comfortable.
Says concert producer Gary Mandell of Thursday evening’s stars:
“The Young Dubliners are ambassadors of American and Celtic Rock.
“They are known as the Dubs, and they seamlessly blend both styles together into a high energy, anthemic and lyrically poignant mix.
They have been together and touring worldwide since the 1980s.
“They jump energetically from ballad to barn burner,.
“They document the world with their poignant lyrics as they go.
“As they tell it, their secret to success is the one thing that never gets old, playing those older songs people love. then mixing in a new song and hearing a positive, excited reaction from the crowd for the first time.”
