Re: “Kimbrew: Who Has Time to Nurse Wounds?”

In the telling of Basil Kimbrew, Lula Davis Holmes, the first declared candidate seeking to be the next mayor of Carson later this year, found out from him she was in the race for Hizzoner or Her Honor.

Hours after Ms. Holmes had been re-elected last week to a new four-year term on the Carson City Council, Chef Basil of the Friends of the African American Caucus, telephoned her.

“I called her,” Mr. Kimbrew said. “I told her she was running for mayor” since the present Hizzoner, Jim Dear, will be sworn in a week from Tuesday as the new city clerk.

“She will be the next mayor,” he pledged.

Mr. Kimbrew had hoped that the incumbent city clerk Donesia Gause would run for City Council in Carson but that is not at all clear.

What is official, from Mr. Kimbrew’s perspective, is that Ms. Holmes will contend for and win leadership of the city of Carson.

Mr. Kimbrew was proud of his bold step. “Unbeknown to her, I announced on my blog (cafriendsofaacc@gmail.com) that she was running.

“She didn’t know I was down that, and she got some super great responses.”

Mr. Kimbrew said that “Lula might tell you she is not running.” He guaranteed that “she is running. Quote me, she will run.”
