“I support and endorse Dr. Henderson,” said Supervisor Burke, who made news last week when he formally endorsed L.A. City Councilman Bernard Parks to succeed her when she retires in June.

“I know Dr. Henderson will be an excellent Councilman,” she said.

Dr. Henderson has served on the Cultural Affairs Commission for the past seven years, and he is currently the Chair.

He said his priorities are to protect Culver City’s neighborhoods while establishing a comprehensive review of the city’s General Plan for land use and redevelopment areas in order to control growth.

Attracting new small businesses is another objective. In recent weeks Dr. Henderson has been endorsed by three-time former Mayor Albert Vera and U.S. Rep. Diane E. Watson (D-Culver City).

Dr. Henderson will officially open his campaign on Saturday afternoon with a Musical Extravaganza at the Jazz Bakery, 3233 Helms Ave. Doors open at 1, and the first of two shows starts at 2, the second at 3:30.
