Re “‘It Has Been a Rough Go’ for Ansman, Says His Mother”
“I haven’t seen Scott since the day he was sentenced” in May 2009, says Marilyn Ansman, the mother of convicted killer Scott Ansman. “That was the last day I seen him.”
The 72-year-old mother, suffering health problems, and her 42-year-old son, a career military man, are in contact, however.
“He calls me twice a week, sometimes more if he gets lonely,” she says.
Their conversations run 10 to 15 minutes, “whatever we are allowed. They will tell us, ‘You have one minute left,’ ‘you have 30 seconds left.’ So we spend a lot of time saying goodbye,” Mrs. Ansman said.
Through her motherly ears, she has concluded that the man who killed his girlfriend, the pregnant Joanne Crystal Harris, in the Culver City Armory in August 2007, “he seems alright. He doesn’t seem to be… He wants it all over with, basically.
“It has been a nightmare,” the widow said.
Nevertheless, Mrs. Ansman judged that “his health is alright and his spirits are, too.”
