Even though it seems as if the Thursday night Summer Music Festival just started, tonight’s 7 o’clock performance in the Courtyard of City Hall already will mark the fourth week, meaning that the summer is exactly half over.

This evening in the spotlight, his name is eye-catching and so is his music — Yari Moré and his orchestra, a Colombian-born salsa singer returns exotic sounds to Downtown for two fast-paced hours.

Producer Gary Mandell says the Bogota native started out singing more slowly paced, favoring romantic ballads.

But, says producer Gary Mandell, as Mr. Moré’s acclaim widened, so did his repertoire.

And now, he and his 11-piece orchestra, who serve as the West Coast accompaniment for the Queen of Salsa, Celia Cruz, “their show is very energetic and designed for movement,” Mr. Mandell said.
