Teacher/education director Karlo Silbiger, the first candidate to announce for the School Board race — now surrounded by five rivals — will hold a meet-and-greet event at 3 o’clock on Saturday afternoon. Margaret and Disa Lindgren will host the food-and-drinks occasion at their home, 4144 LaFayette Pl., with the aid of six sponsoring families from the Carlson Park, Gateway and Downtown neighborhoods.

Nurse/entrepreneur Gary Abrams became the final candidate to file for the Nov. 3 election when three long-serving School Board members will retire. Rounding out the six-candidate field are Kathy Paspalis, Alan Elmont, Roger Maxwell and Robert Zirgulis.
