State Sen. Curren D. Price Jr., D-Los Angeles, whose district includes Culver City, today announced his strong support and endorsement for Measure EE, the $96 a year parcel tax to benefit the Culver City School District, in the Nov. 3 election.
If approved by voters, Measure EE would provide a stable source of local funds to support Culver City schools that are presently struggling financially in the aftermath of sizable state education budget cuts.
“Culver City schools are known for their quality education, small class sizes, top-notch instructors and solid student test scores,” said Sen. Price.
“Measure EE will help Culver City maintain the level of education excellence its schools are known for. It also will enable educators to update instructional materials, to provide art and music programs, and advanced math, science and college-prep courses.”
“The money will stay in Culver City,” the new senator added. “The funds won’t pay administrators’ salaries. Senior citizens may qualify for an exemption. Eight dollars a month per parcel owner is a very small price to pay to protect and preserve quality education.”
City Councilman Scott Malsin later explained how Sen. Price’s endorsement evolved.
“I was meeting with the senator last Wednesday, and I asked him to consider endorsing Measure EE.”
“He called back on Friday to confirm his endorsement.”
