The overarching question all summer has been:

How will the funding be apportioned when it becomes available in three separate portions?

The defogging of responses will begin to emerge on a still-to-be-determined date in September. The School Board will convene a community meeting to sort out priorities.

At last evening’s first meeting of the new school year in Council Chambers, presentations were made by architects, financial advisors and others regarding the winning bond, upgrades that have been made and those to come, and an explanation of improving the heating and air conditioning at the Robert Frost Auditorium.

Frost improvements, which Board President Laura Chardiet estimated could begin in February, will be achieved in three phases, the front of the auditorium, the rear and the HVAC portion. Correcting the air problems in the half-century- old building are the School Board’s primary concerns, Ms. Chardiet said.

Every elementary campus has been or soon will be upgraded, she said, adding that 85 percent have been completed.
