Highlights of last night’s City Council meeting:
• Accepted a donation from the Culver City Sister City Committee, Inc. for the installation of a Sister Cities sign and authorized the purchase and installation of a Sister Cities sign and plaque near the intersection of Culver Boulevard and Duquesne Avenue.
• Approved a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chamber of Commerce regarding community events, projects and the general economic development of the city.
• Reviewed and Approved the Downtown Culver City Business Improvement District Advisory Board’s annual work program and adopted a Resolution of Intent to conduct a public hearing on Monday, Dec. 10, to consider a levy of the Business Improvement District Assessment for next year.
• Accepted a grant to fund bicycle parking.
• Authorized preparation of a project study report equivalent to develop citywide synchronized and optimized traffic signal timing plans. They authorized City Manager John Nachbar to submit a grant application to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s call for projects.
• Held a public hearing during which the Council introduced an ordinance amending the zoning map establishing the Washington National Transit-Oriented Development Planned Development Zone.
• Continued until Monday, Dec. 10, a public hearing when the Council will consider a resolution approving a general plan text and general plan map amendment to the land use element regarding public parking facilities. The Council also introduced an ordinance amendment regarding alternative parking provisions.
• Held a public hearing during which City Council Introduced an ordinance amendment to allow commercial developments at 8810-8850 Washington Blvd. and 3920 Landmark St.
• Approved a Memorandum of Understanding and lease agreement with the Wende Museum for the property at 10808 Culver Blvd.
• Approved city sponsorship of the Culver City Sister City Committee’s 50th anniversary community celebration on Saturday, Jan. 12.
