What more traditional way to richly bathe in the 236th birthday of America on the Fourth of July:

Tomorrow morning at 11, you may go to a red, white and blue parade – in Westchester – and hear the sweet sounds of a choir of brave veterans who fought to make our land free.

Danny Tucker, Michelle Mayne, George Hill, Carlotta Murrah, Deborah Dietrich, John Hill and Carleton Griffin will be performing with fellow veterans in the Fourth of July parade in Westchester.

A main attraction of the holiday parade – from Westchester Park down Loyola Boulevard to Loyola Marymount University – will be the New Directions Veterans Choir, under the smart direction of Morgan Ames.

Veterans, for all of their grizzle and worldliness, are not accustomed to hearing applause. The Fourth of July parade will be a wonderful time to clap heartily and thank them for their courageous service.

Says Ms. Ames of the parade plan for the New Directions Veterans Choir:

“We are singing ‘America the Beautiful’ at the beginning of the parade, around 11. We are singing again, somewhere in the middle of the parade, probably “How Sweet It Is to be Loved by You.”
