Don’t be so fast to conclude that the School Board race for three open seats on Nov. 3 will be smooth and formful because it is mostly a test of veteran candidates comfortable with the whole drill.

When the tall, stately and very serious Prof. Patricia Siever of West Los Angeles College filed her application just before yesterday’s deadline, form went on permanent holiday.

The previously tidy dynamics and formfulness were shattered, because Prof. Siever is not just any candidate. She knows the landscape.

If her sudden presence does not throw the now seven-way race into disarray, the arrival of a respected educator of stature at least causes a reassessment of the lineup that formerly was thought to be the final one.

Prof. Siever is the wife of Luther Henderson, a candidate last year for the City Council.

Her application may instantly stamp her as a favorite for one of the three seats.

Her competition:

Educator Karlo Silbiger, veteran candidates Alan Elmont and Roger Maxwell, attorney Kathy Paspalis, entrepreneur/nurse Gary Abrams and educator Robert Zirgulis.
