In a sign of growing momentum for state Sen. Curren Price’s campaign for Los Angeles City Council District 9, U.S. Rep. Karen Bass (D-Culver City), County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas, and City Council President Herb Wesson Jr., three of the most prominent African-American leaders in Los Angeles, have announced their endorsements of the 61-year-old legislator.
Sen. Price, a former Inglewood City Council member who formerly served in the state Assembly, is running to succeed termed-out Jan Perry, now a candidate for Mayor in the March 5 primary.
In declaring their support, the three lauded Sen. Price’s experience, his reputation as a consensus builder, and record of empowering citizens to help create local solutions that improve our community.
“As an educator, community leader, and policy maker, Sen. Price is the one candidate with the experience and proven track record of delivering results that the residents of the 9th Council District need and deserve,” said Ms. Bass. “I proudly endorse Sen. Price for City Council.”
Said Mr. Wesson:
“He is the clear choice for the 9th Council District. “He is thoughtful, principled, and an effective leader. His decades of experience improving local schools, spurring job growth, and creating safer communities will be an invaluable asset on the City Council.
