[Editor’s Note: School Board candidate Prof. Patricia Siever will host a Meet ‘n Greet on Sunday at 1 o’clock at Carlson Park.]
Last Sunday, School Board candidate Kathy Paspalis hosted an evening of live music and lively conversation at Rush Street in Downtown.
With more than 130 people in attendance, guests were entertained with cool music from Culver City's own jazz quartet, Chaille Percival and Friends.
Ms. Paspalis moved from person to person, listening to ideas and suggestions about the School District from parents, community activists, and city officials. She also shared her own perspectives as well.
The parents in attendance especially enjoyed their evening out because the campaign provided free child care while their children watched “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs” at the nearby Pacific Theaters, followed by snacks and artwork in the plaza.
After thanking all of her supporters, soliciting a round of applause for the organizers of the event and pointing out that there were parents of children from every one of Culver City's schools in the audience, guests were reminded to get their final bids into the silent auction where prizes from music amplifiers to Los Angeles Kings’ tickets were in high demand.
Ms. Paspalis concluded her speech by asking everyone in attendance to contribute ideas and opinions now and in the future, reminding them that their input would be needed well beyond the Nov. 3 Election Day.
Her request that everyone keep in touch and continue the dialogue for the next four years, and beyond, met with cheers and applause.
