Re “Parents Attracting Name Allies in Dispute with Union”
[Editor’s Note: As the organizer of an online petition http://signon.org/sign/culver-city-board-of responding to the dispute between the Assn. of Classified Employees and, principally but not only, the parent body of El Marino Language School, Jeannine Wisnosky Stehlin, an El Marino parent, answered several questions today from the newspaper.]
How was your petition and what are your objectives?.
The petition was developed by a group of concerned parents of children in Culver City schools, including Linwood E. Howe, El Marino, Farragut, La Ballona, Culver City Middle School and Culver City High School. The parents wanted to let the School Board know that parents across the District feel very strongly about this threat to parent and volunteer programs and are expecting leadership from their School Board.
Will you present the petition to the tomorrow night at the School Board meeting?
Yes, at the meeting at 7 o’clock in the Council Chambers of City Hall.
What are your intentions beyond that?
To ensure that children in the Culver City Unified School District have the benefit of absolutely all the resources we can make available to them and are not artificially held back by union rules, technicalities or politics. We are lucky to have donated resources at all of our schools. We will not rest until the School Board has taken steps to protect those resources.
