What to do about Culver City’s unintentional white elephant, the gapingly empty space in the bosom of Downtown, between the Culver Hotel and Trader Joe’s.
The public is invited to a 7 o’clock community meeting tonight in the ground floor Dan Patacchia Room at City Hall to offer suggestions and banter with potential developers about how the gaping space should be utilized.
Director Sol Blumenfeld’s Community Development Dept. will be in charge.

It is with great sadness that we must let you know that one of our Board members, Pete Flusser, passed away this past weekend. Pete and his wife, Bobbi have been longtime Dog Park supporters and very active members of our Board. Pete's beautiful underwater photography has always been popular at our fundraisers, along with the beautiful pendants and earrings from their company. We will sorely miss Pete, and our deepest condolences go out to Bobbi.
Democrats to Huddle
Wednesday evening’s 7 o’clock meeting of the Culver City Democratic Club — in the Rotunda Room at the Vets Auditorium — will feature a panel discussion among three smart people about what happened in last Tuesday’s mid-terms, Jim Clarke, longtime aide to retiring U.S. Rep. Diane Watson (D-Culver City, Mona Field, a community college trustee, and School Board member Karlo Silbiger.
Says Dem Club President Ronnie Jayne in the club’s newest newsletter:
“This message will be fairly short, but not because I’m too shocked and depressed to write. I’m not thrilled with the election results, to say the least. But the national results were not unexpected. We knew that Democrats were going to lose. And lose BIG. It’s a little early to digest all the consequences of the Republican takeover of the House. However, that will be one of the main discussion points at out next meeting (Wednesday): What happens now?”
