Re “Shuttle to Hayden Tract Develops Four Fat Flat Tires”

One of the most memorable scenes from last Monday evening’s shuttle-centric City Council meeting came when the general manager of the Culver Hotel stepped to the podium and vigorously endorsed the notion of a shuttle from the train station to the Hayden Tract to Downtown.

This afternoon, vastly different sound waves were emanating from Seth Horowitz, not only the G.M. of the hotel but a member of the board of the equally/formerly enthusiastic Downtown Business Assn.

The (pilot program) shuttle scheme, as presented Monday, is yesterday’s news, he believes. Said differently, it has the dim future of Confederate currency,

“I am confident it will not happen, as funded by the city,” Mr. Horowitz said. “If there is such an animal, it will be funded by the DBA and the businesses.”

The Next Step

However, Mr. Horowitz’s dauber is not down. He sounded even more triumphant this afternoon than he did on Monday about an imaginative, new DBA-related transportation project on the table.

It reposes behind a mysteriously arranged veil that is teasing out particles of information.

“The next step,” he said, “is multi-faceted, exciting, and it is good news.

“There will be some kind of shuttle/transportation service that will better serve the business community, including the Hayden Tract and Downtown. But it will not be specifically between those two locations.”

This newest configuration, Mr. Horowitz said, emerged as a result of Monday night’s nullifying 2-2-1 vote by the City Council that evidently has deconstructed the City Hall-spawned shuttle pilot program.

“The bad news for the Downtown Business Assn. on Monday is good news for Culver City because the subject is on the table,” he said.

“What is going to come out of the conversation on the table is very, very exciting.

“Whatever it is, it is going to improve the transportation situation in Culver City.”
