[Editor’s Note: About half a year after stepping down as Chief Financial Officer of Culver City to return home to Inglewood, Jeff Muir is making a U-turn. He has been Assistant City Administrator/CFO since September. On Monday, April 26, he will resume his duties as CFO. He issued the following statement to the newspaper this afternoon.]

I have made the decision that it is in my personal, family and professional best interests to return to my position in Culver City.

Of course, this is an admittedly odd situation.

I am just fortunate and thankful that the opportunity has even presented itself.

I am proud of what I was able to accomplish in the short time I have been back in Inglewood in terms of catching the city up on its audits and completing a very thorough budget review and update.

I am confident that the Finance Dept. will continue to move in the right direction.

Like many cities, Inglewood has some difficult decisions ahead.

But they at least are now clear on the magnitude and urgency of those decisions.

In some ways, I suppose I had unfinished business here, and it is now finished.

It never was about money, status or anything like that. I am returning to Culver City 100 percent focused on doing my part in moving the city forward.

When I left, I had nothing but positive thoughts about the city.

Hopefully my record during the time I was there spoke for itself.

I am eager to bring whatever professional assets I can offer to assist Culver City through its own tough decisions.

I look forward to working with the City Council, City Manager, Executive Management, the Finance Dept. and other employees.
