Lois Hill Hale, Watson’s Press Secretary

[img]2075|right|Lois Hill||no_popup[/img]It is with great sadness that we report the death of Lois Hill Hale, longtime press secretary to now-retired U.S. Rep. Diane Watson (D-Culver City) on Aug. 8. Cause was an apparent heart attack.

She was 78 years old.

Public viewing will be Monday, from 4 o’clock to 8, at the Inglewood Mortuary, 3801 W. Manchester Blvd., Inglewood.

The funeral will be Tuesday morning at 10 at the First African Methodist Episcopal Church:

Ms. Hill Hale was on Ms. Watson’s staff from 2001 to 2010 and had an extraordinary professional career.

She was a publisher and co-owner of The Scoop newspaper one of the earliest Urban Lifestyle publications in Los Angeles. She influenced education policy as a two-term past resident and Board of Education Director for the Inglewood Unified School District.

Ms. Hill Hale was also president/CEO of Lois Hll Hale and Associates, an educator, community leader, and public relations consultant with a long standing reputation in the community.

She spent more than 20 years with the Los Angeles educational system and 10 years in communications.

Ms. Hill-Hale was founding member of the Inglewood Adult School Advisory Board, a member of the Inglewood Airport Chamber of Commerce, the Inglewood Neighborhood Housing Assn., the Inglewood Democratic Club and Executive High School Internship of America Program. Other membership affiliations include the National Assn. of Media Women, Women on Target, Black Women Forum. National Conference of Black Elected Women, League of Allied Arts. NAACP, SCLC and Urban League.

A native of Ypsilanti, MI, she received a Bachelor of Science degree from Cal State Los Angeles, and earned a teaching credential.  Ms. Hill-Hale  received an honorary doctorate of Humane Letters degree from Shorter College in Little Rock.

She leaves behind her sister, June Hill Roberson and her husband Pastor Garther Roberson, Ypsilanti, sister Naomi Hill, Ypsilanti, and host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
