With the girls soccer team at Culver City High School trundling toward the end of its regular season, the parties involved in a controversy that has excluded one girl from the team, this afternoon were working on scheduling a second meeting that could result in her activation.
Coach Scott Mair and Athletic Director Jerry Chabola met for a little less than an hour last Thursday with John Cohn, father of senior and veteran player Maya Cohn. Ms. Cohn was left off the team because of a team policy change involving her parallel commitment to the YMCA’s Youth and Government team.
Mr. Chabola said of the first meeting (which was publicly suggested by School Board vice president Scott Zeidman):
“There were suggestions, but no conclusions.”
“My optimism is waning,” said Mr. Cohn. He thought the parties hardened their positions while also acknowledging “some progress.”
