Re “United We Stand – LaRose’s Message on Bond”

Repeating his insistent mantra that there is not division over how and when to go forward with the school facilities bond measure campaign, District Supt. Dave LaRose said he has received affirmation for this stance from the School Board, which last was seen going sharply separate ways with no overt compromise in sight.

“We are not wavering in our commitment to address the significant facilities needs we have,” Mr. LaRose said.

Based on the most recent public statements by the two gapingly divided sides over when the measure should go on the ballot, a cease-fire is not within view, even with binoculars.

Mr. LaRose’s present assignment, he says, is to craft a work/study session on the bond measure “in the next few weeks.”

But no date has been set for a meeting planned in advance on the next School Board meeting a month off, Tuesday, Aug. 27.

During the interim, it seems likely that the cross-community debate will continue over why the bond – without warning – was killed for this election cycle at a July 1 Board meeting.

Mr. LaRose is juggling travel and vacation schedules of the principals before a date can be established.

“The commitment and the interest is that we need to sit down and talk about next steps,” he said.

The only certain element of that meeting relates to the weather – personal thunderstorms and showers of emotion.

This will mark the first time since July 1 that the two sides – Mr. LaRose says there only is one – have met in a public arena.
