Re “‘Specific Answers to Specific Questions,’ Goldberg Says of LaRose

On the day before Dave LaRose assumes the Superintendent’s chair at the helm of the School District, here is the fina linstallment of what community members said after meeting him at a reception.

Prof. Pat Siever, third-year School Board member: “I love him. When first read all of his materials, I spent two hours reading his alone.

“What I wound up doing was making six pages of notes. He’s got a plan. He is very organized. He has the welfare of students first.

“I just think he’s going to be a great spokesman for us because of his personality. He has been a superintendent for the last four years.

“He has an inner confidence. I mean that he is friendly but he is not aloof. When he came into the interview, he wanted to shake my hand, not just perfunctorily but like a real good shake.

“I am happy. For us and for Culver City, he is a jewel.

“He is not from within the District, not that that is a negative, but he is bringing a lot of experience with him from other districts.

“We know a lot of things, but he brings a lot to us that we don’t know.

“He can look at the District from the outside, look at it objectively. I think that is going to help us, to heal us.

“I think it’s going to bring us all together. That’s what I think. He is the perfect nexus for bringing us together. Not that we are not together. But we have parents who want to do what they want to do. We all want the same thing. He will see that that is what happens. The way he communicates and is so outward, I love that.

“He is one of those uniters.

“I have been talking with his daughter, and I am elated. He is going to be great for Culver City.”
